Our commitment to ethics

We receive human tissue donations from two major sources: non-transplantable tissues from heart-beating donors, and tissue which is removed during surgical operations and would otherwise be discarded as biological waste. It is vitally important that the public supports the use of human tissue to increase understanding of human disease and develop new and improved treatments. KaLy-Cell fully supports the ethical use of human tissues and believes that in order to maintain public confidence and trust, all tissue used must be obtained ethically and with appropriate consent, and be handled and used sensitively and responsibly by researchers. KaLy-Cell has the ability by the French Ministry of Research (AC-2008-451) to prepare and store products from human origin for research purposes (CSP articles L 1243-3 and L 1243-4), and the ability by the French Ministry of Research to export human samples (CSP article L 1245-5). KaLy-Cell also has the agreement of the French Agency of Biomedicine (CSP article L 1232-3).


Safety, Handling and Storage

The products listed on this site are distributed for research purposes only. They have not been approved for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes. Products composed of subcellular fractions (microsomes, S9, cytosol, etc.) should be stored in an ultra-low freezer (–70°C or colder). Cryopreserved Hepatocytes should be stored in liquid nitrogen vapor (-150°C or colder). They should be thawed in accordance with our thawing protocol, which is provided with hepatocytes. A study performed by KaLy-Cell’s scientists and published in a prominent journal demonstrated that our cryopreserved hepatocytes can be stored up to 5 years with no significant loss of CYP activity* (Alexandre et al., Xenobiotica 2012).
